About Aragats
34 years of building
instruments, not just parts.
Aragats Ltd was established in 1992 in Yerevan. Its field of activity is the research, development, design and manufacturing of optoelectronic systems and robotics — and all of it happens under one roof.

The company
A long history in a demanding field.
Aragats has been designing and manufacturing optoelectronic systems since 1992. Optoelectronics is an unforgiving field to work in for that long: an instrument only performs if the optics, the mechanics that hold them, the electronics that read the detectors and the software that corrects and interprets the image are all correct at the same time. Any one of them being wrong makes the whole product wrong.
Because of that, the company was built around having all four disciplines on staff. Its own engineers include mechanics, electronics specialists, physicists and software engineers. Around 100 people work at Aragats today, and the team has grown roughly tenfold over the past decade; the current focus of recruitment is electronic design.
The work happens in one 4,000 m² facility at 27/26 Fuchik Street in Yerevan: engineering offices, optical fabrication and coating rooms, machine shops, electronics benches and test areas, all under one roof.
Aragats cooperates with internationally known companies, and its systems are documented to the level of a full technical datasheet — detection, recognition and identification ranges for both optical channels, mechanical accuracies, environmental limits and network behaviour. Those datasheets are published on this site rather than held back, because the specification is the argument.
The organisation
Four kinds of engineer, one corridor.
- 01
Mechanics
Housings, barrels, mechanisms and the machining that produces them.
- 02
Electronics specialists
Detector interfaces, video, motion control, power and networking.
- 03
Physicists
Optical design and the physics of what a channel can actually resolve.
- 04
Software engineers
Firmware, image correction, tracking, coordinate solving and the SDK.
Team composition as described by the company’s director in public reporting on Aragats. The headcount is deliberately approximate; no revenue, throughput or production capacity figure is published anywhere on this site, because none has been verified for publication.
How we work
Design and production are the same conversation.
- 01
Specification before styling
Every product on this site is presented through its measured performance. If a number cannot be verified, it is not published.
- 02
Make the first one yourself
Prototype parts are machined in house. The loop between a decision and a physical part is days, not a supplier cycle.
- 03
Integration is engineering
Boresighting three optical channels to each other and to two mechanical axes is design work, not the tail end of assembly.
- 04
Test against the datasheet
A system is accepted against the same document the customer receives — ranges, accuracies and environmental limits.
- 05
Own the software
Detector correction, tracking and coordinate solving are written here, so the hardware can be changed without asking permission.
- 06
Publish the interface
ONVIF conformance and a documented SDK, so a customer's system can drive ours directly.
On film
The workshops, filmed.
In 2022 a broadcast crew filmed inside the Aragats facility. It remains the clearest published look at the optical fabrication, machining, electronics work and optical testing described on this site.
The output
What 34 years of that produces.
Seven published systems: networked pan-and-tilt observation heads with thermal, day and rangefinder channels, and hand-held thermal binoculars. Each one is an assembly of optics, mechanics, electronics and software made in the same building.
Start a project
Bring us a requirement, not a drawing package.
Tell us what the system has to do and in what envelope. We will tell you which parts we would design, which we would make, and where the real constraints are.
